Oslo, Norway (1993 – present)
Aura Noir is a thrash/black metal act from Norway. Their style tends more toward “classic”/early BM.

Originating as a duet of multi-instrumentalists, Apollyon and Aggressor, Aura Noir grew into a full-scale band when Blasphemer of Mayhem joined their cause.
Over the time, the band’s recordings featured several notable guests, including Fenriz of Darkthrone on vocals.

Soon after releasing “The Merciless” (2004) on Darkthrone’s label Tyrant Syndicate, Aggressor got into an accident (fell from the roof of a four-story building in Oslo), which left his lower half temporarily paralyzed. He spent several months in the hospital but is already playing guitar again. In 2008, Aura Noir released “Hades Rise,” which boasted a guest appearance by Danny Corrales of Autopsy and Abscess.

I've been away for waay too long, had many problems, but now I'm finally back, and I hope I'll have more time to post here then I had before. Anyway enough with me :P

Macabre is a death metal band from the USA. They were formed in 1985 in Chicago, Illinois, and have never had a line-up change (Corporate Death - guitars, vocals ; Nefarious - bass guitar, vocals ; Dennis The Menace - drums). They blend thrash metal, death metal, and grindcore (sometimes with nursery rhymes and folk melodies) to form their own unique style dubbed murder metal (this album is completely melodic death). Lyrically, they have a strong focus on serial killers, mass murderers and a touch of sick gore humor. Most lyrics are based upon true stories and are about real infamous personalities. They also have a side project called the Macabre Minstrels that play acoustic camp fire songs. Their current label is Decomposed Records.

Legion of the Damned is a death/thrash metal band originally from Geldrop, Netherlands. They were formerly known as Occult, but decided to change their name to Legion of the Damned in 2004. They unleashed their first thrashing metal storm on the 6th of January 2006. “Malevolent Rapture” was an uncompromising slab of killer death/thrash reminiscent of the masters of the eighties packed in a modern killer sound by Andy Classen and received many killer reviews in the press. The band showed to be able to combine furious thrash mayhem with midpaced neckbreaking rhythms, translocating the realm of the eighties into the new millenium.

New York's Black Anvil were created in 2007 by former members of recently defunct hardcore activists Kill Your Idols: vocalist/bassist P (Paul Delaney), guitarist G (Gary Bennett), and drummer/vocalist R (Raeph Glicken). The trio recorded its debut album, Time Insults the Mind, for release through Monumentum Records in 2008, but soon drew the attention of Relapse Records, which reissued the LP a year later and put the band on the road opening for Marduk in the summer of 2009. At the same time, Black Anvil were already busy recording their second album, with an as yet unspecified release date.

Overkill is an American thrash metal band formed in 1980 in New Jersey. The band has been active since 1984, releasing 16 studio albums, 2 EPs, 2 live albums and a "covers" album. The band also has a notable mascot (named Chaly), a skeletal bat with a skull-like face, bony wings, and green eyes. It has appeared on most of their album covers. Overkill has gone through many line-up changes, with singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and bassist D.D. Verni remaining the only consistent members. Along with Anthrax the band is one of the most successful East coast thrash metal bands.

Deströyer 666 are an Australian blackened thrash/death metal band formed in 1994 by guitarist K.K. Warslut, following his departure from the cult black metal band Bestial Warlust. They have now relocated to the Netherlands. A reissue of their album Cold Steel… for an Iron Age has been scheduled for late 2005. It will feature a picture disk as well as some previously unreleased tracks, including alternate versions of some songs. The band is also working on a new LP containing all of the songs previously released on 7” vinyl.

Their sound can be described as a blend between black, thrash and death metal, although in recent releases, the band’s death metal edge has become more prominent. For example, the album Unchain the Wolves, considered to be their finest by many fans, has a less head-on and aggressive sound than later albums such as Cold Steel… for an Iron Age, which uses a more bombastic and hard-hitting tone.
